What is Mahi Up?

If you have a disability or health condition, including a mental health condition, getting started on your employment journey is easy. Whether you are looking for your first job or returning to work, you can get one-on-one support from our Geneva Job Coaches.

What is the goal of Mahi Up?

We can help you find the right type of job that matches your personal lifestyle, goals, and interests.

Everyone is unique and looking for something different, which is why you will work closely with your Geneva Job Coach. They can guide you through the entire process and support you in finding:

  • Part-time work (up to 30 hours)

 

How can you support me?

Our team of Geneva Job Coaches will support you every step of the way.

1-on-1 support

We can help you with:

  • Career planning – We’ll work with you to create a personalised career plan and CV.
  • Job search & interviews – We’ll help you apply for jobs, meet employers, and prepare for interviews.
  • Starting your new role – Once you start a job, we’ll help you settle in and ensure your needs are met.
  • Maintaining employment – You’ll continue to receive regular check-ins and support for at least 6 months.

Group support

During group learning time, we’ll cover:

  • Training to build your skills
  • Work that fits your needs
  • Identifying opportunities that excite you
  • Building confidence and resilience
  • Understanding your drivers to employment
  • Managing your wellbeing

Our team provides our Mahi Up services in the following region:

How much does Mahi Up cost?

Fully funded service

Our Mahi Up service is fully funded by Work & Income for people who are eligible. This means you don’t have to pay to use our services within the limits of your funding.

If you’re on a benefit from Work and Income and have part-time work obligations, you’ll generally be eligible to access our services for free.

To check if you’re eligible for our fully funded services, speak to your Case Manager at Work and Income.

When can I start using your services?

You can start your employment journey straight away. There are no waitlists for this service.

How long does the service last?

You’ll receive up to 26 weeks of coaching and support to secure employment, with regular check-ins and support for at least 6 months.

Every disability or health condition is different, that’s why you’ll receive one-on-one support that meets your needs and preferences. No matter what your barriers are, we can work with you to make sure you can access our services.

How to refer someone to our Mahi Up services

You can refer yourself by contacting us directing at [email protected].

Alternatively, your Case Manager from Work & Income can refer you to us by sending the referral information to [email protected]. We will then assess the referral to see if we’re able to provide our services.

A: The amount of time and effort it takes to find a job that’s right for you depends on your flexibility, your training and skills, the level of accessibility and support from potential employers, and how many jobs are available.

A: There are many great benefits to being employed. We can talk you through the process and answer any questions or concerns you may have.

Q: What happens if I don’t like the job I get?

A: Finding the right job for you is important. If you’ve given a job a go and decided that it’s not for you, we can continue to support you in finding another job.

Q: I currently have a job but I’m looking to change. Can you help me?

A: Our Mahi Up service is designed to support individuals who are not currently employed and are looking for work. If you’re looking to change jobs, we recommend exploring other career support services that may better suit your needs.
