Waitangi Day celebrates the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi in 1840 between the British Crown and 500 Māori chiefs. The Treaty of Waitangi is New Zealand’s founding document and was first commemorated in 1934 and became a public holiday in 1974.

Honouring our commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi is important to Geneva Healthcare.

Geneva has formed a relationship with Ngati Whatua Orakei, injecting the richness of Māori culture into our operations and our Client events. I look forward to sharing Geneva’s biculturalism journey regularly on our website during 2019,”

says Tupara Morrison, Executive Bicultural Advisor.

The Geneva Family will be out celebrating Waitangi Day in our local communities. Waitangi Day is celebrated across the country with numerous cultural events – have a look at the list below for a Waitangi Day celebration near you.
