Meet Our Cultural Advisor

Tupara Morrison has recently joined our Geneva Family as our new Cultural Advisor.

Tupara is of Te Arawa and Ngati Whakaue descent and will work across the organisation to advance Geneva’s cultural strategy with a specific focus on the company’s commitment to work in partnership with Maori.

Prior to joining Geneva, Tupara Morrison was Tumu Tauwhirowhiro Maori (Executive Director, Transformation Maori) at Unitec. Tupara was also the inaugural chief executive of Ngati Whatua Orakei Whai Maia Limited in Auckland, leading social service development for the tribe. He also held a senior executive position with Scion, one of NZ’s Crown Research Institutes, and prior to that worked for 11 years in senior management positions at Lakes District Health Board in his home town of Rotorua.

Tupara also has extensive governance experience within the health, tertiary education, iwi development and tourism sectors. He is currently a board member of Competenz Trust in Auckland, and also holds ministerial board appointments with MetService NZ and Te Puia, the New Zealand Maori Arts and Crafts Institute. He was previously Council Chair at Waiariki Institute of Technology, and a board member on FairWay Resolution.

Tupara is a Massey University business studies graduate, Chartered Accountant and Fellow of CAANZ, and member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors.

With his wealth of knowledge, we proudly welcome Tupara to the Geneva Family.

At Geneva Healthcare, we respect and embrace the Maori culture. Throughout the year, we celebrate many important events like Waitangi Day, Matariki Day or Maori Language week. We encourage our staff to learn about Maori culture and use as much Te Reo as they can on a daily basis.
