At Geneva Healthcare, we know that supporting people to live well isn’t always about big interventions. Sometimes, it’s the little things that make the biggest difference.
For someone living with dementia (mate wareware), writing can become more difficult over time. Changes in memory, coordination and hand strength can sometimes make everyday tasks more challenging. Yet writing remains deeply meaningful, whether it’s signing a birthday card, writing a shopping list, labelling a family photo, or simply leaving a note for someone you love.
These everyday moments help people stay connected to their routines, their memories and the people around them.
That’s why Geneva Healthcare is proud to partner with Dementia New Zealand, with our first pilot now underway with Dementia Auckland and Dementia Lakes in Rotorua.
We’re providing free wide grip pens designed to make writing more comfortable and easier to manage for people living with dementia. With a wider barrel and soft, ergonomic grip, the pens help reduce strain and support people to continue writing with greater comfort and confidence.
For us, this isn’t really about a pen.
It’s about helping people maintain their independence, confidence and connection in the everyday moments that matter. And it’s about giving whānau and carers another practical way to support the people they love.
At Geneva Healthcare, we’re committed to finding simple, thoughtful ways to help people live well at home and in their communities. We’re grateful to Dementia Auckland and Dementia Lakes for helping us get these pens into the hands of those who can benefit most, and we look forward to seeing the impact this pilot has across the Auckland and Rotorua Lakes regions.
If you or someone you love is living with dementia and would like to talk through the support available, contact Geneva Healthcare or Dementia New Zealand. We’re here to help you understand your options and find the right support for you and your whānau.
