Needs Assessment & Service Coordination (NASC)

Working With NASC to Support You and Your Whānau

If you or someone you care for needs support to live safely and independently at home, a Needs Assessment and Service Coordination (NASC) can help you access the right funded services. Geneva Healthcare works closely with NASC agencies throughout New Zealand to make sure individuals and whānau receive the care and support they need.

What is NASC?

NASC stands for Needs Assessment and Service Coordination. It’s a government-funded service that helps determine what level of support you require and what services you may be eligible for. A NASC assessor will talk with you (and your family if you wish) to understand your daily needs, your living situation, and what assistance would help you maintain your independence at home or in the community.

The outcome of this assessment will decide what kind of support you can receive and who will provide it, which can include home care, personal care, respite, rehabilitation, or specialised support services.
