What is short term support? Short term support is temporary care provided at home for a limited period, usually following an illness, injury, hospital stay, or surgery. It focuses on helping individuals recover safely and comfortably until they are ready to manage on their own again.
How long does short term support last? It depends on your needs. Support can last for a few days, several weeks, or a few months. We’ll work with you and your healthcare team to determine the right timeframe.
Is short term support available at home? Yes. Most people prefer to recover in the comfort of their own home, and our Support Workers can provide all the help you need, from personal care to mobility support.
Is short term support funded? You may be eligible for funded support through ACC (if your situation is related to an injury) or through your local NASC (Needs Assessment and Service Coordination). Private care is also available for extra flexibility.
What happens if I need care for longer than expected? If your recovery takes more time, your care plan can easily be extended. We can also transition you into long term support if ongoing assistance is required.
