What is a Whānau Carer?

A whānau carer is someone who provides day-to-day support to a family member or loved one who has a disability, health condition, or injury. This might include helping with personal care, meal preparation, transport, medication, or simply being there to support their independence at home.

Through government-funded programmes and partnerships with Geneva Healthcare, many whānau carers may be eligible for training, financial support, and the chance to become a paid support worker.
