Support Worker – Medically Fragile Children – Massey

We are currently looking for compassionate and dedicated Support Workers to join our team with our client based in Massey. Due to the intimate nature of the cares, we are looking for someone who have experience working with medically fragile children. Our client is unable to take care of themselves and hence need support with their daily routines promoting their independence. Due to the complexity of the cares, commitment to the shifts is vital.

This is an awesome opportunity to improve a child’s daily life and an ideal role for anyone interested in, or currently studying, child health, nursing, education and/or physical development.

Suitable applicants will be able to relate well to children, have a gentle personality, be very clean and tidy. You will be reliable and able to plan and manage your time well.

Requirements:

  • Comfortable in a medical home environment
  • Confident to handle cares independently
  • Must have a full NZ driving licence
  • Must be eligible to work in NZ
  • Subject to clean police clearance check
  • Able to commit to the shifts
  • Child specific First Aid
  • Healthcare qualification of Level 3 or above
  • Previous experience with Medically Fragile children

Tasks:

  • Personal cares
  • Overnight cares
  • Ileostomy cares
  • NGT cares
  • Tracheostomy cares
  • Suctioning
  • Ventilator cares
  • Monitor Oxygen Flow

*Flexibility required

Shifts:

  • Wake over, Saturday 09:00 PM to 07:00 AM.

*With the opportunity to pick up more shifts as they become available
